I did a bit of experimenting with layers on CAD at home, combining some of my print work from Fridays Print session- I always love playing about with this as it gets my ideas flowing, as I'm just testing most of it won't really be for Uni but every now and then I end up with something that might fit in with my design brief.

This won't go with my brief idea but I quite like it; especially repeated on a larger scale

Again neither will this although the colour scheme is not far off, I do like it though :)

This one links in a bit more but I would have to decrease the saturation a bit I think and have it more faded in the background rather than a main design idea to pursue

New blog

This is my new design blog, which I want to base more on Surface Design; materials, techniques & outcomes.
I’m a final year Surface Design student at Huddersfield University. My specialisms are CAD and Print, I love designing and photography; my camera and laptop with its design software and graphic tablet are some of the things I defiantly could not live without.
I don’t mind using textiles within my design work but I hate it when someone asks what a surface designer is and sums it up as someone who works with fabric for fashion- the clue is in the title; Surface and personally I’m more into the interior side. I like working with harder materials like wood and plastics etc, testing to see what print techniques can work on different textures and surfaces, then experimenting with the outcome in CAD to see what effects I can create.
I love the idea that I could design for wall-coverings, flooring, textiles or even exteriors; showing that Surface Design is a lot more than fabric.
